LEAGUE OF LEGENDS – CHAMPIONS
"Go ahead, run. I'll give you a five minute head start."
One of the reasons Piltover is known as the City of Progress is because it has an extraordinarily low crime rate. This hasn't always been the case; brigands and thieves of all sorts used to find the city-state an ideal mark for plunder, primarily due to the valuable resources it imports to fuel its techmaturgical research. Some even theorize that it would have fallen long ago to the chaos of organized crime if not for ...
Illaoi, the Kraken Priestess
“Wisdom is frequently a kick in the head.”
Illaoi’s powerful physique is dwarfed only by her indomitable faith. As the prophet of the Great Kraken, she uses a huge, golden idol to rip her foes’ spirits from their bodies and shatter their perception of reality. All who challenge the “Truth Bearer of Nagakabouros” soon discover Illaoi never battles alone - the god of the Serpent Isles fights by her side.
All who ...
"There is a place between war and murder in which our demons lurk."
In Noxus, any citizen may rise to power regardless of race, gender, or social standing - strength is all that matters. It was with committed faith in this ideal that Riven strove to greatness. She showed early potential as a soldier, forcing herself to master the weight of a long sword when she was barely its height. She was ruthless and efficient as a warrior, but her true strength lay in her conviction. She ...
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS – SKINS
At first sight Victorious Sivir can look like another armoured version of the Battle Mistress but it’s actually a heavily decorated, royally even, take on Sivir.
There’s some protection but the basis of the design is the blue clothes ornamented with golden laurels.
The rich aesthetic is clear once one takes a good, close look at Sivir.
The focus borders on making even her boomerang a piece of jewellery so the skin stands apart from others.
That doesn’t mean ...
Sad Robot Amumu is a clever take on the sad mummy that mostly ignores the source material to deliver an original reimagining of Amumu.
The new model is brilliant: the head is a spectacle on itself and the body has its share of nice touches; like the missing battery on Amumu’s back and the plug from his right foot.
Moreover, the new particles and sounds reinforce the concept as well as the new robotic voice.
Maybe Sad Robot Amumu is a forced concept but it more than ...
Considering the concept and execution, Statue of Karthus is a skin that struggles to appeal.
On the one hand the look is distinct and stands apart from the classic style.
Besides, the idea of a stiff lich impersonating the Statue of Libery is funny; for a while.
On the other hand, an American symbol is due to lack worldwide interest.
Even if we take the reference as a personification of Libertas, the Goddess of Freedom, we find some qualms are to be had.
With multiple and pleasing changes Blood Moon Zilean is a fantastic skin.
Starting with the model, the new robes follow his classic style but are richer and more elegant.
The oni mask and white hair clarify the Kabuki reference even if it can be easily overlooked in favour of the more eye-catching clothes and time machine.
Said time machine receives an interesting and attractive new design of unaligned circles as well as a new animation that, along the clothing, define a ...
Elaborate clothing, full of golden decorations and designed to attract the eye makes Cutpurse Twisted Fate seem escaped from a Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The hairstyle and beard only contribute to make that statement even more convincing.
Actually, there isn’t much that reveals the Card Master as a pirate and as a criminal he seems to be rather extravagant.
Regardless, considering the fictionalized approach the idea of a fancy thief that ends up as a hero ...
With a casual style and some fancy stickers on Boomer Riot Girl Tristana aims for stylish looks of the superficial sort.
The clothing is simple but comfortable, the kind to wear off-duty.
The goggles are all show with those spikes and the earrings add some matching decoration that follows the general style; like her pink hair.
Her cannon Boomer is modified to look like a hextech device with a certain antique air but modernized with the stickers. All in all, the ...
Karate Kennen is effectively a full re-model that re-interprets Kennen as a classic martial artist.
The result is eloquent and eye-catching: the karategi looks correct and even has a pattern on the back to break the white monotony.
On top of that, this outfit reveals more of Kennen’s cute, furry physique; which looks rather nice.
The mask is a necessary complement to keep a bit of the anonymity necessary of his ninja theme; which evidently remains.
Swamp Master Kennen does much with little yet the result isn’t exactly appealing.
The white outfit looks dirty and washed out.
Besides, the furless skin appears unhealthy, unattractive and alien; especially for a yordle.
Even the nails seem unsuitable.
In general, the skin does much with little but it doesn’t end up looking good.
If you like this particular style it’s not a bad choice.
However, it hardly exploits the strengths of a yordle or a ...
The aesthetic presented by Wild Card Shaco surely captures the first part even if the Joker angle isn’t that clear.
Perhaps Jack in the Box does a better job at referencing a Joker card.
Shaco looks like too much of a maniac in comparison to the usual lightheartedness of the card’s image.
Nonetheless, he surely seems suitable for a court even if he appears more like an eccentric aristocrat rather than a dark buffoon.
The clothes are richly decorated with a ...
The profusion of engravings and embellishments leaves little doubt as to the regal status of the armour’s wearer.
For the most part the decoration is reasonable until we come across two huge protruding horns on Jarvan’s back.
In spite of the measured composure and elegance displayed on the rest of the armour, those horns are a standing ovation to excess.
Thankfully, the lance doesn’t follow suit and displays a moderate but appealing design.
Still, it seems ...
